Report: Worcestershire County Council ATSF
A few thoughts/comments from the latest Active Travel Stakeholder Forum meeting on Thursday 15th June, from Bike Worcester Chair, Dan Brothwell...On Thursday we had the @worcsc Active Travel Stakeholder Forum which brings together a diverse selection of stakeholder groups (cycling and walking advocacy, disability, county, city and parish councils). I was convinced, during the meeting, there is now political leadership, a desire for change and an expectation of genuine collaboration and front end consultation with people who use the infrastructure day in, day out. This includes front end input into LCWIPs, and geographical and subject smaller working groups. The meeting also included a Why? discussion which was excellent, framing what we are trying to achieve, which @mikerouseuk has taken away to create a mission statement, headlined by central government targets for active travel, and an aim to transform the city and county.@BikeWorcester has demonstrated the awesome power of our volunteer resource, examples given were recent mapping and surveys of barriers and bike parking facilities across the city (we’ve moved onto benches…> 100 mapped in 24 hours ). I’m fortunate enough to have an employer @AquabioLtd that supports both flexible work and active travel (through the SHIFT scheme) that enables me to support the @bikeworcester Bike Buses at a growing number of primary schools in the city (I attended three this week).
