Active Travel - Phase 2 bid

Worcestershire County Council has now submitted its bid for the second allocation of £1.082m from the Emergency Active Travel Fund. You can find out more here: http://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/news/article/2230/further_funding_bid_submitted_for_the_emergency_active_travel_fund.Yet again, this is overwhelmingly disappointing. Much of the plans involve widening canal towpaths. All well and good, but a towpath isn’t segregated infrastructure. According to the DfT, bikes must been seen as transport. Share with care paths will no longer get funding. This smacks of little vision or ambition on what could be possible for better walking and cycling infrastructure. If what is listed is the crux of the bid then we don’t hold out much hope of Worcestershire County Council getting much of the £1m they’ve bid for.
